The Mission of the Midwest Shrine Association (MSA) is to promote greater fellowship among the several MSA Shrine Centres and their members, and to secure recognition of the Shrine institution throughout the territory of this association. Shriners International recognizes 20 regional Shrine Associations. These Associations allow individual Shrine Centres to join together for fun, fellowship and camaraderie. It also allows Shriners an opportunity to share ideas on how to improve Shrinedom in their areas.
The Midwest Shrine Association holds an annual winter business meeting in early February and a Summer Session in mid to late August. Those attending the winter session are the Shrine Centre executive officers and key committee heads. During the summer sessions all Shriners, their Ladies and family members are invited to attend. At the summer session their is usually two public parades along with demonstrations/competitions by the various units. Units may be Drum Corps, Clowns, Motorized Units, Equestrian Units, etc. The hosting responsibilities and duties rotate to a different centre each year.
Today the Midwest Shrine Association has fourteen Shrine Centres; two Canadian centers located in the Provinces of Saskatchewan, Manitoba/Northern Ontario, and twelve U.S. centres located in Iowa, Minnesota, North Dakota, South Dakota, and Wisconsin. Combined, these Shrine centres have approximately 20,000 members.
